I know that many people are concerned about anti-social behaviour in our towns and villages.
To help address this, I have held Crime Summit's with Thames Valley Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner in Wantage and Wallingford so that constituents could raise their concerns directly. I was pleased that the Police took the feedback they received well and committed to going away and looking at how they are going to a better job of reassuring local people that they are taking these issues seriously. I continue to raise issues with them and hold them to account to ensure local people feel their concerns are being addressed.
I have also previously raised the issue of anti-social behaviour from unauthorised traveller camps and met with the Home Secretary to help push for the new laws that came into force to stop this.
I also backed new Government funding which means that the Thames Valley now has more police officers than ever before – with 582 new officers recruited since 2019 - and I have been making it clear that tackling anti-social behaviour should be one of their priorities.
