This week, I re-introduced the Local Electricity Bill to Parliament.
The Bill would support the growth of community energy schemes and make it easier for small-scale renewable energy generators to sell the energy they generate.
Since 2010, renewable energy capacity in the UK has increased by 500% but we still have more to do. I am proud to say that the Bill was co-sponsored by MPs from all parties and is supported by 314 MPs in total (almost half the House).
I am the Chair of the Community Energy APPG in Parliament and I have been meeting with BEIS officials and Ministers to make the case for community energy. I will be meeting the Energy Minister to discuss the Bill soon – watch this space!
